Chicago Department of Aviation has commissioned a design-build project for the expansion and modernization of their O’Hare Airport Transit System (ATS) in conjunction with the expansion of their Maintenance and Storage Facility (M&SF) and the construction of a new Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC). Planning and design for the project date back to 2015, with Rossi Contractors, Inc. construction work commencing in May of 2016. The project consists of the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the transit system expansion.
Rossi Contractors, Inc. was selected as a subcontractor to Parsons Construction Group for the civil and structural construction scopes of work. Work in this packages consists of the following:
- Installation of three at-grade switches and associated guideway tracks for access into the new Maintenance and Storage Facility building expansion.
- Expansion of two elevated guideway tracks (approximately 2000LF each) from existing Lot E to access the new CONRAC Lot F.
- Installation of four elevated switches in a diamond double crossover configuration.
